The Storm Watch Is On
Here we go. The most powerful storm on the face of the earth is about to make a very close pass to our region. It has been a long time since we last had a hurricane, and it is so easy to forget how fickle these storms can be...

Come What May
It has been a long time since I was at the blog board. A lot has been happening personal and otherwise. Much of my time has been at the Smilow Cancer Center, I was rear-ended on my way to work during early May. The last time something like that happened, a can of worms was opened and out came bone marrow cancer, multiple myeloma(14 years ago). But enough of that!

Something wicked in the air
We love it when you folks out there are able to send us photos of severe weather, whether they show crazy blizzards, sizzling temperatures or intense flooding. But I found it even more fascinating when four people send us pictures of what to me look like the same threatening cloud formation.

BP's Blues
It's troubling to see those live images (that can be seen 24/7 on the cable news channels) from beneath the Gulf of Mexico of the fuel spewing out of the pipe that was once attached to the Deepwater Horizon oil rig.

Breaking the Rules
The NFL has decided New York will get the Super Bowl in 2014. Well, New Jersey to be a little more accurate.
After a vote of league owners, the new 1.6 billion dollar Meadowlands stadium beat out Tampa and south Florida for Super Bowl XLVIII. Many of you may not know, but there are actually several criteria a city must meet before requesting to host a Super Bowl.

The classic NBA rivalry returns
Although it's not exactly a done deal just yet, the Celtics and Lakers will likely be locking heads once again for another NBA championship beginning next week. Their conference final opponents, Orlando and Phoenix respectively, don't seem to have the firepower to get past these two legendary franchises.

'Lost' and found
This probably not a good thing to admit -- but I'm lost on "Lost". We posted a Lost quiz on our web site a couple of weeks ago and I only got about half-way through when I realized I haven't been paying enough attention to the show to get more than half of the questions correct.
Unless you've been stuck in an island-hopping time warp recently, you probably know that the story of Oceanic Flight 815 will end on Sunday, May 23rd. How it ends is known only to a select few. The speculation and rumormongering has been so intense that the website "Lostpedia" has locked down their site to comments "due to extensive spoiler vandalism...."
That hasn't keep Twitter folks from speculating with the hastag #LOSTfinale. One that caight my eye this morning was from ABC's JakeTapper who Tweeted "Turns out it all took place in Suzanne's Pleshette's snowglobe".
ABC is planning a big "Lost weekend" with the original episode on Saturday night, a series recap show early Sunday evening followed by the two and a half hour long finale. With the score I got on the test I should probably watch all of it before the last Lost.
Hmm, have I used the word lost enough yet.
Anyway, a little bit ago I saw this promo for a special Jimmy Kimmel Live "Aloha to Lost" in which the creators of the show will unveil three alternate endings to the series. Here's the promo:
I'm hoping this is a gag, but if not I reply - why?! I don't like these alternate ending gimmicks. If you're going to end a show end it, and then burn the other versions you didn't pick. Why annoy some fans by showing an ending that *gasp* may be better than the one you selected. You may think it's cool to show people what you could have done, but I think it's a waste of time.
Anyway, hope you enjoy the series finale. We'll look forward to your comments.
*Blog Alternate Ending*
And if you can't get enough of Lost when it's over, Jimmy Kimmel Live has a really cool special after the finale. It's called "Aloha to Lost" and one of the things I really love is that the creators of the show will present three alternate endings. So not only do you get to see the official ending, you get to check out other equally cool endings. And hey, because of the way Lost bounces around in time, all of them could be real.
Anyway, hope you enjoy the series finale. We'll look forward to your comments.

Farewell to a Legend
Early Sunday morning, one of rock's legends passed away. Ronnie James Dio was 67 years old, and he died quietly at home after a battle with stomach cancer. While you may or may not be a fan of his music, there is no denying Dio was a groundbreaking performer and singer. Below is probably his best known song, "Holy Diver".
