Unexpected cash -- CT Big List
My wife got a pleasant surprise in the mail the other day -- money she didn't know she had coming to her. Maybe you do too.
Back many years ago when she was living in New York, my wife was owed a refund from a health care group. The money never got to her and it eventually ended up in the hands of the State of New York. One day her father happened to search the web site for New York State's Unclaimed Funds. Lo and behold her name was listed.
He contacted us, we filed the paperwork, and we just got a check for $93. Nice!
Every state has sites like this. Connecticut's is called "The Big List" and it's run by the Office of State Treasurer. Click on ctbiglist.com, type in a last name and initial, and see if you or a relative is listed.
I didn't see my name listed, but maybe yours is. By the way, don't fall for any scams from folks who say they will do the searching and paperwork for you. The web search is free, and the paperwork is not that difficult.

GOD forbid these companies or government actually go a little out of their way to give back money owed BACK to people.....
Then the man who sold it to me said he remembered selling the insurance and they owed me 20thou.
So I went back and they pretty much told me to go eff myself.
Funny how my son recived the same and they wont give it to me.
I still have the original paperwork/policy,were they surprised to see that show up from 1995 so they made up a bunch of words to confuse me,I still have the policy,I wont be going back to Allstate for insurance.
Somewhere in that insurance company is my 20 thousand.
I wonder how many others got screwed.

The big day came and I was told it was a refund from an insurance company as I had changed companies.
I can't recall what I did with my WINDFALL but do remember it was $47.00!!
But like the others that have posted, it's probably a small ammount from an old insurance policy.
The short version -- be nice and be respectful of other's opinions, even if they don't agree with yours, or your comment may be deleted.
