An Awesome Local Trip! The Thimble Islands

Posted by Gil on September 17th, 2007 at 11:57:50 am, 642 views

:D Hello!
I wanted to share a great Connecticut trip with you! I finally took the Thimble Islands Cruise this past weekend and it is wonderful! If you are looking for a quick little trip.....go to Stony Creek and take this tour. The whole excursion lasts no more than one hour. The boat ride is fun and Captain Bob is the tour guide. There is so much to see including a house that recently sold for 23 million dollars. The boat ride zig-zags between the 25 islands known as Connecticut's Shoreline Jewels. You will not be disappointed! The last trip is on October 22nd. For 9 bucks....you can't go wrong!!!!:)-Gil

The Verdict Is Out

Posted by Dr. Mel on September 17th, 2007 at 09:08:46 am, 759 views

Whenever the weather takes its first chilly turn, it has always been time for me to take a look at the Old Farmer's Almanac. The publication is loaded with great stories, anecdotes, puzzles and astronomy. Oh, and there are those weather forecasts, and the crowd pleaser is always the winter forecast. What about this winter, and what do you think?

An Average Summer?

Posted by Dr. Mel on August 31st, 2007 at 11:34:22 am, 1145 views

I know that the summer season doesn't officially end until the autumnal equinox, September 23, but for weather record keeping purposes and climatological records, Sept 1 marks the first day of fall.....the summer months being June, July and August. So, as Labor Day Weekend arrives, what kind of summer has it been for you? Did it feel like just a regular, typical season?

Farmer's Almanac 2007-2008 Winter Outlook

Posted by Gil on August 27th, 2007 at 08:16:17 pm, 14847 views

It's that time of year again! The Farmer's Almanac is hinting at what they believe will happen during the Winter of 07-08:crazy:. You guessed it....more cold and snow East of the Mississippi. I feel seasonal forecasts are more of a hit and miss than actually accurate.
I am guilty of checking to see what the Almanac says. I have been reading it since I was a kid. There are many cool things in this publication other than weather...like recipes and neat stories.
I would like to ask you if you really rely on this long range forecast:?:Do you have a seasonal business and trust what the Almanac calls for:?: Let's enjoy this nice weather this week! -Gil:D
