Pettite's Admission

Andy Pettite admits he used HGH! That in itself is a strong step. However to say that it was only two days of his entire career and he shouldn't be judged any further, well,, that minimizes the admission.

I'm no doctor (despite the wishes of my mother) but I can guarantee you, taking one shot of HGH a day, twice, doesn't mean you're going to heal only two days faster from injury....I'm quite sure he was looking to shave off significant time from his rehabilitation. Pettite says he didn't do it for an advantage, but he most certainly did! He was looking for an advantage in the healing process. He wanted to return sooner, and maybe, stronger. That way he could pitch well for the Yankees and for his own career. You don't have to be on the mound in a game situation to pick up an advantage. And using that stuff without being in under a doctors care, could have and still might be in the future,, cause serious side-effects!

Pettite should have admitted he used Human Growth Hormone, admit that it was inappropriate at the very least and move on,, quietly. Qualifying an apology means you're not really sorry. It means you're just sorry you got caught.

As I sit in my warm home today I can't help but think how lucky many of us are this time of year. Take five minutes out of your day to watch this link below and just imagine being this cold for two minutes.

Pettitte's HGH admission

Posted by Jeff Bailey, Executive Producer on December 16th, 2007 at 09:01:26 am, 429 views

At least one Major League player named in the Mitchell Report has the -- na, I can't say it -- to come forward about his use.

(AP) _ New York Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte admits he used human growth hormone to recover from an elbow injury in 2002. Pettitte, who's a 35-year-old lefty, made the admission Saturday, two days after he was cited among 85 players in the Mitchell Report. Pettitte says he tried HGH twice, stressing he did it to heal faster and not enhance his performance. He emphasized he never used steroids.

Mitchell and the Media

Posted by Erik Dobratz, Sports Producer on December 14th, 2007 at 09:02:16 am, 368 views

So the list is out and I must say I'm a bit disappointed that Senator Mitchell did not have the juice on some bigger names in the game. Don't get me wrong, Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte are big names, but those two names have been floating around for months.

Red Sox fans breathed a big sigh of relief yesterday afternoon, but I did find it interesting that Theo Epstein was mentioned in the report. Boy Wonder seemed to be very aware of Eric Gagne and his past steroid use but still moved quickly to make a trade for him right before the deadline.

Should Theo or other baseball management types be punished for not speaking up about players they suspected for using steroids?

Lastly...Bud Selig needs to resign. He clearly was aware of what was going on in his sport in the mid 90's but looked the other way. Selig did not shoulder any of the blame yesterday and that is a disgrace.

Oh by the way, Pitchers and Catchers report in 60 days.

The Mitchell Report

Posted by Erik Dobratz, Sports Producer on December 12th, 2007 at 08:15:02 pm, 367 views

Okay this may sound strange but I feel like a little kid on Christmas Eve. No, it has nothing to do with the holiday season but the baseball season. I really can't wait to see what names will be exposed tomorrow when Major League Baseball releases its Mitchell Report (Former Senator who is heading up baseballs investigation into performance enhancing drug use).

It's not a secret that I'm a Yankee fan and I hate to say it but part of me hopes that a prominent Yankee will appear on the list (not Derek Jeter or Mariano Rivera). How about someone like Bernie Williams, Roger Clemens, Tino Martinez or even Andy Pettitte. How would that make you feel Yankee fans?

How about the Red Sox? If Jason Varitek or David Ortiz should be outed for say HGH use...would that take away from the last two world series?

It really should be interesting and I know I'll be on the computer or close to the t-v tomorrow to hear the news.

Fire Isiah Now!

Enough!
Now that MSG and Isiah Thomas have settled the case with Miss Sanders it's time to settle the problems on the court.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Madison Square Garden and New York Knicks coach Isiah Thomas have settled the sexual harassment case brought by a former team executive who was awarded $11.6 million in punitive damages.
Terms of the settlement were not immediately disclosed.
"I am extremely pleased that we have reached a settlement," Anucha Browne Sanders said in a statement.
The deal came as compensatory damages were about to be added and as Browne Sanders was preparing to return to U.S. District Court in Manhattan, where her description of her ordeal with the Knicks exposed the club's tawdry side, from its dysfunctional clubhouse to its star player's sexual exploits with a Knicks intern.
"As I have said before, I am completely innocent," Thomas said. "This decision doesn't change that. However, this is the best course for Madison Square Garden, and I fully support it."
MSG added: "We don't feel any less strongly than we did throughout the entire episode. The outcome was a travesty of justice, and we vehemently disagree with the jury's decision, however, at the strong request of (the NBA commissioner) and in the interest of focusing on basketball, we can all agree that it is time for us to move on and put this issue behind us."

You can leave out the "C"

Posted by Marc Robbins on December 3rd, 2007 at 08:49:22 am, 549 views

Once again another college football season has come and gone. And without a playoff system, it's the same old thing. The Bowl Championship Series, leaves us with no true Champion

If you later than the next guy, you can't be as good!

LSU and Ohio State meet for the national championship, but how can you make fair assesments, when teams don't even play the same number of games, (LSU 13, OSU 12)...

As long as College Presidents can get big money from the Chamber of Commerce from Citites all over the country, you're gonna have a Bowl System that fattens school's bank accounts and encourage heated debate from fans. Oh well, maybe that's not such a bad thing.

Don't forget, follow the UConn Huskies in the Meineke Car Car Bowl on Huskies All Access.com

Free lube jobs for everyone!!!!!(just kidding...)
