A week off
Much to my disappointment, there is no H.S. Football Game of the Week this week.
Our production trailer is heavily involved in our election coverage so the trailer and the fine crew are busy with politics..
But never fear football fans. We'll be back next week, and a day earlier too. On Thursday Nov. 6th we'll be at Fairfield University, the home stadium for Fairfield Prep as the Jesuits host Xavier of Middletown.
Should be a strong match up. Hope you see some games this weekend. I'll be blogging about our game next week.
Till then, enjoy!

Watch out for the Whalers!
Our H.S. Game of the features the New London Whalers hosting Fitch High from Groton.
These two schools are longtime rivals that formerly played on Thanksgiving.
New London is unbeaten and ranked #2 in the state. The Whalers are led by Senior Quarterback Jordan Reed, who's committed to the University of Florida. Yes you are reading me correctly, the Florida Gators! Urban Meyer's program has targeted Reed as it's QB of the future. It's a solid choice, Reed has tremendous skills, a cannon arm, but with exquisite touch. He's 6-4, 240 and runs like a powerful deer.
What makes New London so good, is the players around Reed. Ritchie Vitale is a RB/LB who has a bunch of schools flocking around him. Tight End/Def. End Anthony Schiavonee has an offers from Iowa and Temple. There several others who will play at the next level. The Whalers Offensive Line features 3 players over 300 pounds!!!
Fitch is on the verge of success... The Falcons have welcomed back Head Coach Mike Emery who took a bit of a sabbatical after 10 years of running the program. This team has taken on Emery's previously successful characteristics. It's just a matter of a young team putting all the pieces together.
Fitch at New London, live on WTNH.Com Friday at 7pm. Re-broadcast Saturday at 7pm on MY TV9 in HD!
Enjoy!!!!!!

An Hour at WPLR
Got a chance this morning to spend some time with Chaz and AJ, WPLR's Morning Team. Wow, time does fly when your having fun!! The hour was a blurr....
I really enjoyed hanging out and talking about some of my life experiences, back in the day (if the 1980's are considered "the day"). Man, I was getting grilled about my past, love life, party times, you name it!!! Also, it was great taking a few sports calls.
The guys and don't forget Megan were funny, hospitable and a pleasure to be around. I hope they'll have me back...

World Series 2008 -- What else is on?
While fans like Geoff Fox are ecstatic about seeing their Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series, for the casual baseball fan like myself it can't possibly get more boring.

A Medieval Mid-State Match up on the H.S. Football Game of The Week!!!
We've got a terrific H.S. Football Game of The Week coming up. Simsbury at Southington. Two very talented clubs. Simsbury at 4-1 is coming off a big victory over previously unbeaten Windsor, while the Blue Knights of Southington are also 4-1 with the only loss being to New Jersey power Bergen Catholic in the season opener.
It should be a crisp night and a crisp game with plenty of action. Don't miss it live on WTNH.Com 7pm Friday. You can catch the re-broadcast Saturday Night at 7pm on MYTV 9...
It's the Trojans versus the Blue Knights, in a Medieval Battle!!!

Cheshire vs. Notre Dame of West Haven,, a battle between the Present and the Future!!!
Come one, come all to WTNH.com Friday night live at 7pm and then Saturday at 7pm to MY TV9 for the HD Broadcast.
Notre Dame of West Haven will show you the future of High School football. A SOPHMORE quarterback, Sean Goldrich will lead the explosive Green Knights offense. Goldrich is a big kid with a powerful arm. Notre Dame will mix things up with it's deceptive ball handling in the Wing-T and the young Sophmore Goldrich flinging the ball to some talented and speedy receivers.
If you missed seeing Cheshire a couple weeks ago against Shelton, then you missed, arguably the most exciting game of the season to date. The Rams and Gaels went to overtime, and only a missed Cheshire extra point kept the game from continuing. 35-34 was the final. Rams Quarterback Billy Ragone is simply amazing! The kid is a complete football player, great runner, strong and accurate passer and he's a ball hawk on defense with an iterception return for a touchdown as a starting safety. One respected official says Ragone is the best pure football player in the state!!!! Don't just take his word for it, tune in and see for yourself...

Underdogs go under
When you root for the underdog, for the most part you're perpetually frustrated. Case in point -- Major League Baseball.
