Watching Edsall
It's good to be Randy Edsall these days. Not only is the U-Conn football coach getting his team ready for the Fiesta Bowl, there are also reports that the University of Miami has him on the short list for their vacant head coaching job. There's little dispute at this point about Edsall's coaching abilities, his resume certainly speaks for itself. I can recall a time, not so long ago in face, when U-Conn football was an asterisk on the local sports scene. The program has come long way from that point to a BCS bowl game.
Edsall has changed the equation is less than a decade. The question now is simple, should U-Conn's top man jump ship to Miami or perhaps some other tradional football powerhouse like the University of Florida where there is also an opening? I hope Edsall should stay put, become the fooball equivalent in Storrs to his hoop collegues Jim Calhoun and Geno Aureiemma. There are also grid-iron examples: Joe Paterno's has done pretty well staying put at Penn State all these years. There is also an obvious risk for any coach who jumps to a new location, with big dollars and equally big expectations from local fans and the media. It's a potentially stressfull situation that Edsall can avoid if he stays at U-Conn. The Hurricane's loss would be the Huskies' gain. I hope Edsall chooses to stay in Storrs. So, what's your opinion? Should Randy Edsall stay at U-Conn?

A lot has changed for the better. I agree that Edsall should stay put, become the fooball equivalent in Storrs to his hoop collegues Jim Calhoun and Geno Aureiemma.
