Big game, big cliches
So, there's a super-sized football game being played on Sunday that will fill airtime between some very expensive commercials. There will be several people 'up in arms' over every touchdown and field goal you see (They're called referees and judges). And you're likely to hear many lame sports cliches as the game goes on.
The folks who do polling at Marist College did a survey on sports cliches, and their results show people want announcers to stop using cliches like "It's too bad somebody has to lose" (cited by 36% of the people surveyed) and "He'd like to have that one back." I'm sure you heard that quite often after Brett Favre's poor throw near the end of regulation against the Saints two weeks ago.
By the way, I'm picking the Colts by 7, and you can take that to the bank. No guts, no glory when making a prediction, right?
