Most entertaining game of the weekend
A few days ago I wrote the following about the Packers/Cardinals NFL wild card playoff game: "Don't care either way. ZZZZzzzzzz...."
Wow, was I wrong!
That record-setting 96-point scorefest by Arizona and Green Bay far outclassed the poor performance by the Patriots earlier in the day, which I turned off after the first quarter. Plenty of action throughout and good drama at the end with the missed field goal to send the game into over-time, and then the big defensive play to win the game. To use an over used sports cliche, that's the way the ball bounces.
Injuries aside, is the Patriots dynasty over, as Vic Carucci suggested on NFL.com?
My almost 6-year-old son, who picked out a pristine new Jets t-shirt at the store before that game started Saturday, kept asking me all day yesterday if the Jets were playing again. Nope, that's the late game on Sunday in San Diego (4:40 pm start).
I think that'll be a fun one to watch, along with the Cowboys/Vikings game, which is the early game Sunday (starting at 1:00 pm).
Guess that means I'll be doing something else on Saturday, since I'm less interested in watching either the Cardinals/Saints (4:30 pm) or Ravens/Colts (8:15 pm).
27 days (and counting) until the Super Bowl. Unless you don't care in which case the first day for pitchers and catchers to report to spring training is Feb. 18th.

What really surprised me was the Arizona/Green Bay game... was an exciting one with a very disappointing ending. The ref's blew it period. When the Cardinal defender forced the fumble on the Packer's QB on that last play, he did so with a blatent facemask and it never got called. Pretty sad situation and I hope the league is going to take a closer look at preventing another debacle.
The short version -- be nice and be respectful of other's opinions, even if they don't agree with yours, or your comment may be deleted.
