Poor guy... I hope you balance this out by making certain he's the reporter sent to cover the story if the Mets happen to do something post season one of these years.

If they kept their eye on the ball instead of what they did wrong they would get somewhere.~Peace Glenna~

As a longtime Mets fan also, I have to feel for Chris. Although he did get to go to the World Series. The Mets will be a big threat soon. soon = 5yrs or less. I can only hope

I've also been a Mets fan since 1981, one can only hope someday of a salary cap so all the teams are equal and players play fair and square as they did in the old days..No media hype, no drugs/steroids, no arrest records and not cheating (A-Hole and Arroyo incident in playoff comes to mind)..

Wishing for a salary cap? Ummmmm.... we have the third highest payroll in baseball. Having a a salary cap would hurt the Mets. Wish for something else..... like a clue!

Signed,
A bitter Mets fan

Ugh. Poor Chris!! LOL- but I agree w/the Poster that when - -err, IF the Mets make it to the Promised Land, Chris Velardi gets the honors in covering that.

I think CT Yankee Fans feel for the Met fans.....we're not New Yorkers, so I don't think the Rivalry is that intense (maybe from METS side it is) but I think Yankee fan's round here focus that hate and loating on the Putz's up North...Ya know, the one who's closer choked a few weeks ago (see? I can't even contain it in November!!)

Kudos to Chris who did a great job in what must've been a very, very annoying job!

GO YANKS!!!!!

OH, and Visitor Jim, Joe's post didn't SAY the Mets had the highest payroll. Everyone from here to India knows its the Yankees...

But Yikes. Can you imagine if the Mets DID have a salary cap to their p-roll? I don't wanna pick on the Mets (as I previously stated) but whining about Money is ridiculous when the Mets are that high.

Some hate the Yankees for overspending. But they're not breaking any baseball rules. I do LOVE how they have their luxury tax check sent to the commissioners office within 24 hours of receiving the 'bill'. They follow the rules....and any trade/free agent aquisition is approved by the Commissioner.

You gotta wonder what teams like the Pirates, Nats, Royals, etc are all doing with George's $10 million annually....NOT putting a great team together the fans can actually enjoy...

If the Yankees 'buy' the WS, they'd do it every year. Sox fans should be happy the Yankees won last week. Prior to last Wed, the highest payroll team to win a world series was....???

The 2007 Boston Red Sox.

See how it all works??

Fiscal management from a Yankee fan what a crime. I long for the day when the kids in Pittsburgh, Kansas City or Milwaukee have somethign to cheer for. Do the Yankees buy world series of course they do and everybody knows it. There is another side as well those teams who spend nothing at all. There should be a salary floor and a salary cap as well. No teams should be able to outspend the competition to the extent the Yankees do as it ruins the sport. It is not realistic to expect a team from Miami to generate the same revenue as a New York team, the market is just not there. Something has to be done to level the playing field or we will continue to see the Yankess buy every free agent player to win every year. I honestly can not watch this sport anymore. It is no longer a sport, sport means competition, competition means a level playing field and that just is not baseball. Spare me the nonsense that every owner can spend what they want. Yes that can be done but nobody buys a team to just win they buy a team to make money and then win. The Yankees have the luxury to spend way more on their team win and still make money. That is fine for the NY fans but what about the rest of America? It really is pathetic when you break it down and look at it not as a "fan" but as an honest spectator. It is just my opinion but I think the "game" has just ruined itself. Think I am wrong look at football. All things equal how come the Giants or the Jets do not win every 3 or 4 years? Sounds like competition and an even playing field to me and lets be honest isn't football much more interesting knowing anybody can win?

I know I'm late to the game on this one, but looking at Chris's comment. I believe they do call it the "Yankee Clipper" when the special trains go to Yankee Stadium. I also believe the MTA dubbed the trains to GCT for the parade "Yankee Clippers" as well
