A Clean Bill of Health

Posted by Noah Finz on March 20th, 2009 at 12:33:09 pm, 1985 views

UConn head basketball coach Jim Calhoun left the hospital Friday morning with what university officials are calling a clean bill of health.

Calhoun spent the night at the hospital so doctors could monitor his symptoms. He said he's been feeling lousy for the last several days.

According to a written release, Calhoun joined the team for breakfast and is expected at the afternoon practice although he may not be available for media briefings later in the day.

The Huskies will prepare for a second round game against Texas A&M. The Aggies outclassed BYU in a first round game and the Huskies made short work of Chattanooga.

So how focused are the coaches during this time of year? Soon after A&M defeated BYU, Aggie head coach Mark Turgeon tapped me on the shoulder and asked what time his game on Saturday would be. How's that for not looking too far ahead.

The Aggies are scheduled to play UConn Saturday at 3:35.

Matt and Mel

The Good Morning Connecticut team was out in full force today at the St Patrick's Day Parade...and judging from the turn out...we weren't alone! A HUGE crowd took advantage of the great weather to support one of the longest running parades in the country. And from the looks of it, a great time was had by all.

What a night/morning!!!

Posted by Marc Robbins on March 13th, 2009 at 07:57:46 am, 2659 views

It's amazing what a natural boost of adrenaline can do for the body!!! Thanks to the historic excitment of the UConn/Syracuse 6 overtime classic, I've made it through a shift of live television beginning at 3pm on Thursday and ending around 7:40am Friday!!!

Live TV is so much fun, it keeps me energized.. Of course it doesn't hurt to have more than 100 bright lightbulbs on to keep someone alert....

UConn's loss will have a momentary disapointing effect, but remember,, the NCAA Tournament will begin in a week, and the Huskies figure to be one of the top 5 favorites to win a National Championship. So UConn will have a chance to rest, and repair on and off the court during the next week, before starting what just might be a deep tournament run...

Enjoy the Basketball,
Marc

As this bizarre, awful Bernie Madoff thing plays out before our eyes, I'm having a hard time understanding this whole thing.

Ready To Dry My Toes

Posted by Ted Koppy on March 12th, 2009 at 10:19:16 pm, 1007 views

I want to piggy-back on Darren's blog about social networking. Before signing up on Facebook and Twitter, I felt the same as Mr. Kramer. In fact, it was the day after hearing that Darren was encouraged by the boss to get on facebook, that I decided it was perhaps time for me to stop holding-out.

Dipping a toe into "Social Networking": I thought Twitter was the sound a bird makes...

Posted by Darren Kramer on March 10th, 2009 at 10:46:11 am, 2755 views

Over the last weeks and months on our station, and nearly every local and cable news station in the country, you have been hearing anchors and reporters talking about their "Facebook" page, and "Twitter", and others. From the onset, I hated the sound of the whole thing. Who on gods green earth would care if I (or anyone) was "eating breakfast" or "walking the dog" or whatever. But then I got a nudge.
