What's in a Name ?
I didn't really think much about my name. Until I found out a mom watched me on News Channel 8 and decided to choose the name Erin for her baby.
The name Erin in English is a sort of nick name for the country Ireland. When I was growing up it was not a popular name. My name wasn't on those little license plates made for bikes. Now the name has become more popular. However, I never expected my name to be an inspiration for someone else.
Today I was covering an event in New Haven when a mom told me the following story. She said she had just given birth to a baby girl but had no idea what to name the child. She says upon returning from the delivery room she was watching News Channel 8 when I appeared on screen. She thought to herself that Erin sounded like a good name. And right then and there she named her baby girl Erin.
The family has chosen a different spelling. They spell it E-r-y-n-ne. Erynne is now nine years old and a student in New Haven. I have no idea if she has any interest in becoming a journalist - but you could say she's got a good start.

No one names kids John anymore. It's fallen waaay down the list. :)
LOL
I just hate it when people lend their own spelling to words (mispellings) and come up with phonetic names.
I'm sure that it has to do with texting and also with just not knowing how to spell.
When is 8 bringing back Regis and Kelly?
No diapers!lol

So, it's spelled correctly and has a bit of the maternity room aspect. Nice name I've always thought for a beautiful (mostly) Irish girl. (Who is now 22, damn how time flys.
Channel 8 channel. Why are your faces like
ghosts? Don't you have a makeup person?
You're getting bad advice in your on camera presentations. Just look at Diane
Sawyer or Fox commentators.
You should really make an effort to look good. After all you're on TV.
The short version -- be nice and be respectful of other's opinions, even if they don't agree with yours, or your comment may be deleted.
