Ted: I feel as you do, and I suspect there's many more of us out there.

As many on these boards have said over and over ... mainstream media has become a lost cause as a source for newsworthy news.

Wait until the Springer show begins as his Will is executed, and his tox report gets out. Creditors, family, friends, et al will be at each others' throats. AND the TV stations will be it all to you, 24/7 .... in HD.

Never had interest in the MJ story. It's a waste of time and as Shadow has stated the lamestream media is more interested in feeding the public Hollywood junk and other BS rather than Obama's BS.

How many days has the new media spent on Jackson? How many days has the news media spent on Obama's climate change bill. Does anyone know what is in this bill? I don't. But bits and pieces are coming out slowly. Why? Because the lamestream media is too busy pushing Michael Jackson and other unimportant BS.

The purpose of the press is to provide a check and balance on the government and keep it in line. Not to keep the people jaded with nonsense unless that is the media's intent.

We were just commenting on this while having dinner and watching the news. This is very overdone and in poor taste in regard to all the talk about drugs. There are children who watch and listen to all of this, and also adults who perhaps have an addiction problem. What I found to be very sad was that Farrah Fawcett passed away the same day and as soon as the news about MJ was out, she was totally discounted. MJ was a great performer, but certainly not a roll model. Enough is enough!

I truly think the Michael thing is getting too much attention now. I really don't know, or care to know all the sorted details of his private life or if he is, or isn't the kids dad etc. etc.

Loved him as an entertainer, he definately had a gift to entertain. His private life is none of my business, and for the childrens sake feel the details should be private. JMHO

One thing I did notice is, noone has mentioned anything about Gale Storm dying, or Fred Travelino (SP?), and poor Farrah, Billy Mays and Ed McMahon‎ got totally tossed aside. I think I've heard enough about Michael, let the guy RIP, and his family grieve in private.

Like everything else, at first it is news, then it becomes intrusive. Unfortunately, celebrities have become the feast for the public through the media. We can't blame the media for over-reporting or over-exposing, if we didn't watch/read/listen, they wouldn't be out there. Some things, the will, the paternity, the day to day, just is none of my business. I've tuned it out. Thankfully, I have my own life to worry about!

I actually saw a photo of Michael Jackson where he looked like the love-child of Ronald McDonald and Diana Ross. It was scary!!

Yes, I watched about the Will, but I have one question after all this. Supposedly, Michael Jackson was beaten emotionally and physically by his father. He said he never hit his kids cause he didn't want them to feel the fear he felt. Well, then what sense did it make that he gave custody to his mother? I'm assuming she still lives with his father, and if so, why would you put this in your Will knowing that what happened to you will get repeated again?

But bottom line, enough is enough. And stop with the blow-hole stuff about Obama. As if Dubyuh did so much better! It has nothing to do with this story, but the Republicans are obsessed with Obama in a totally unhealthy fashion.

I am so sick of MJ and all the hoopla. After he started changing his face, I lost all interest and respect for him. It is a shame that other celebs do not get the PR he got. Farrah had more class in her little finger than MJ had in his whole family tree. Yet, she was not given enough respect on the day of her death. How dare they push her away, in favor of him! Not that either of them care. I care. It was truely tastless and mean to do that to Farrah. Does the news not realize she had a family too. I am certain it hurt someones feelings. Besides, as a mom, I would rather my children idolize Farrah over MJ. You did not see her getting all kinds of bad pr about really bad behaviors. MJ, half the country thinks he's a "Wacko". The other half do not think of him at all.

All of the coverage of Michael Jacksons' death is lining the pockets of people who never knew him or cared about him. So the longer it goes on the more money they make of his death just like they did during all his court trials. I was not happy when I went to watch Farrah's Story and they put on stuff about Michael Jackson, now that wasnt rite, 1 death is no importent then another! To be honest, Im so done with all of this I just want to watch infomercials:)

mom:I actually saw a photo of Michael Jackson where he looked like the love-child of Ronald McDonald and Diana Ross. It was scary!!

hehehhhahaHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA

here's a guy that does a movie-the Wiz with Ross, then says: I want to look like her

ok she's pretty, so he does her face like her

then, he keeps changing his face and bleaching his skin white until he looks like a PASTY NUTCRACKER

Michael had some severe mental issues going on, he really really needed therapy, but because he was a star what he got was whatever he wanted, including children to sleep with and an anesthesiologist to put him to sleep and wake him up.

I think some of the coverage has been ok in regards to the truth of what happened, the rest is overkill, ohh a tractor is going into Neverland possibly to dig a grave or build a shrine. big deal

as far as I am concerned cut the coverage till the autopsy report is in, give it 5 minutes them move on

a few have mentioned children being affected by the coverage

take your kids out of the bubble

the worst thing you can do is keep the truth from them, kids are smart

I understand you want to protect them, the best way to do that is to inform them, make them wise, the world is a tough place, pretending it isn't makes them weak and susceptible to fraud and scumbags.

I do see one blessing about all this newsreporting about MJ and that is they are leaving Ryan O'Neal alone. His relationship with Farrah reminds me of his part that he played in Love Story. They had a wonderful relationship and I feel he doesn't need the media all over him.
As of MJ, stop the crap about the drugs until the toxicology report comes back, the crap about who the mother and father are of the kids?.....do DNA testing. But the guy is dead. All this 'maybe this and maybe that' isn't going to bring him back. Let him be remembered for what he did earlier in his career not what he's been accused of recently.
This is all one reason I don't buy a newspaper and I can change the channels or turn the TV off when the news is on. I check an online website daily, look at the headlines, if there is something I want to read, I read it otherwise I don't bother. Reporters/news media need to get a life.

I personally am a huge MJ fan regardless of his issues. He truly is a legend and was one of the most talented people my generation, the generation before and the generations to come will see and people dont want to give him that credit. Everyone forgets how the media twists things. To all of you who keep stating he was a pedophile and weird and a horrible person etc.... thats just horrible to say about any human being period which is the exact reason why America is the way it is it's people like you who judge others that make this country a horrible place to be. If you watch interviews with him he states he was hurt by people calling him names and just because of what the media tells you or what some money hungry evil people in this country claim to have happened to their children in the hands of him just to get money from him is the basis of everyones judgement of MJ. I personally am also tired of seeing it on the news because the more that comes out about him the more bad i feel for him he had a very hard life and i cant imagine ever being in his shoes being alone all the time, having people who dont even know you judge you thats just horrible if he was such a terrible person he never would have forgiven his sister or his father but he did. I personally think he was a very misunderstood person

Yes he was talented up to a point but really, what new, relevant or groundbreaking work has he done in the last 15-20 years. He spent all of his time/energy/money seemingly trying to be someone else. And covering up and paying off various childrens' families.

Perhaps he was filled with self-loathing.

All the media, "friends and family" buzzards are circling, picking apart this talented young boy and man who became a sad, pathetic, damaged (physically and mentally) creature.

All you critics can say what you want. He was not a pedophile. That was all about MONEY. One of those kids already came out and said his parent to him to say it. So you can call him what you want, say what you want about his talent and music but you will never see or hear another one like him. His music was a part of every stage of my life. Please make it stop! I'm boycotting every station that has Jackson coverage on it until the end of the month. What's truly absurd is that Jackson's family expects bankrupted California taxpayers to fund security and other needed services for his public memorial. They should do what New Haven does. If you want to have a parade or a carnival, then YOU fund the police, security, and traffic control squads yourself. What really angers me is that poor Fara Fawcett died the same day but was little more than a news blurp for the cable stations. More importantly, no one is reporting on Cap & Trade. No one is reporting on Obama's visit with Russian leaders. No one is reporting on the missiles pointed at Alaska and Hawaii. The majority, if not all, of the coverage is for Michael Jackson. they do not even know recent history let alone the past 200 years

they make it up as they go

I love this:

I gots the right to this, I gots the rights to that

you "gots" the rights to nothing

read the Constitution it does not exist

the "Right" to "Happiness" was mentioned in the Declaration of Independance and was never made law

our founding fathers believed all men had unalienable rights, including the right to pursue happiness

it was never made law, although big shot lawyers like to play it up and twist into whatever they want, YOU, do not have those rights unless you can afford a big shot lawyer who can BS the judge and jury

....this just in, MJ's coffin will be at the memorial..........no word as to how many little boys can fit inside with him.........

I am talking to MJ right now, because I can. For $29.95 I can tell you what he said. But wait if you order now... I will add an additional channeling tape of Farah Facett, John Wayne and Marilyn Monroe...But wait for an extra 3.95 + S&H I will get you Billy Mays' last words spoken! (Hint he was selling vacuum cleaner bags)

Happy Channeling! JE

I lost interest the day after he died. Enough already! This hero worship of entertainers and sport figures needs to end. 8 soldiers were killed in Afganistan the last 2 days and yet the main story on the news on EVERY network is Michael Jackson's death! Shame on you!

Enough with micheal jackson there are many more people that have died recently famous or not.I think it truly unfair to continually portray him as the king when he was still considerd by many to be a child molester. You want to talk about the king then you should be talking about Elvis the real king.I would almost go as far as saying that your broadcasting is boardering racisim. With all the others that have past just recently how come with them all combined still can't get that coverage. Is it that your afraid that if you didn't fill the media with a black presence that you would be considerd racist.Even after I believe it was one of abc's pole that 64% of the viewers think that there was to much MJ coverage you continue to cover it non stop.Let's try to get some real news coverage , that is what the media is about or is it not.

MJ has been way overdone... who cares... he was a talented performer whose many wonderful songs have been overshadowed by his sleazy, misguided personal life. He is not an icon to be looked up to, same as basketball's OBE BRYANT or gun-toting rappers. Haven't seen anything on ED MCMAHON, BILLY MAYS or KARL MALDEN. When JOHN DENVER died a few years ago, most of the little coverage was on why he crashed his plane, but little memorial was given to the 70's greatest performer... yes, JOHN DENVER was not perfect, but many of his songs reflected the personal gremlins that he was dealing with...
Same as with JOHNNY CASH... little was shown of him when he died... like John Denver, Johnny Cash admitted that he had problems and many of his songs were based on his life and times...

MJ was not the first/only celeb to have died. I hope the Funeral Home paid upfront for its services.

I couldn't believe that almost every single channel covered his memorial service. I thought they only did that for presidents. This country is so screwed up. I didn't watch any of it - loved the guy when I was in middle school, when Thriller came out but that was a long time ago. Unfortunately, he went done a very sick & twisted path since then.

The only thing that I needed to know about Michael Jackson was that he was dead. I didn't need to hear any more details. I don't want to hear from Al Sharpton, any of his doctors, friends, or his family members. I am sorry for his family's loss, but in my opinion, it couldn't have happened to a nicer pervert. Even my five year old son says "Mom, it's that guy on TV again" whenever he sees a picture of Michael Jackson. You know that we have seen too much of a story if a five year old is bored with it and recognizes the story when he sees it.

You can't lose something you never had.
Adoring a child molester , pedofile, with a bizzare view of life is a reflection of the downward spiral of American culture. The result is the current US President elected by a population who adores this freak of nature comoared to Our Founding Fathers and brave patriots who fought and died for our feedoms based on SELF RESPONSIBILITY.

Michael Jackson is nothing short of GREATNESS! I do feel the media has been and continues to be unfair to him. Yes, we all needed closure and it is still difficult for alot of us to let go and say good bye. We need to let his family morn and leave their personal business PERSONAL! I am ashamed at times of what American culture has become. Who are we to jugde and riducule one another! I hope we American people learn to accept and love one another. Stop beating our fellow man to the ground because he is different.

Tammy

the media has been freakin out, drooling over him, every morning Robin Givens is dancing to his music, every friggin station broadcast his memorial for hours

they have in news been reporting the truth about his drug use, yet, leaving the child molestation issues alone

how do you figure they have been unfair???

the truth can never hurt you

it is time for America to come into the light on all issues and out of it's Fantasy Land

Mj had a thousand problems
Palin is a psycho
Gingrich is an adulterer liar
Clinton is an adulterer liar
McCain is an adulterer liar

those are facts

I wonder if all of this stems from our childhood, children in America tend to be coddled and treated like fairie princes and princesses and facts of life are kept from them by the parents to "protect" them

and as they grow older they remain in this "bubble", refuse to see any facts that might upset the cart

many of the young people I see today from 16-35 scare me

nothing is their fault, the world owes them, and the universe revolves around their daily hallucination

Ted,
Are you trying to say that I'm not missing anything watching WTNH? -and other stations?
Since I'm not able to receive a signal since the SWITCH, apparently I don't need to watch TV after all!!
But, if there ever comes a day you're ready to change places, I'd gladly watch TV for one day...I MISS IT!!!
(can't you guys get a stronger signal?)
By the way, several of my friends can't get WTNH either (let alone the NY channels)

P.S.
Just wondering if everyone forgot there's still people out there still UNABLE to get TV....
Amplified antennas and different converter boxes don't do the trick.
Calling the FCC doesn't get you anywhere..they said they're still getting swamped with people not getting signals

Hi Sally,

I am really sorry to hear about the loss of your TV signals. I am not an engineer, so I don’t know specifically what happened, but there were some complications with the switch from the analog signal to the new digital signal. I know this has affected a lot of TV viewers in markets all across the country.

I believe we have crews working to fix the problem. If you are willing to tell me where you live, I will pass it along to the engineering department to make sure they are aware that we do not have a strong enough signal in your particular location.

Hope you can watch again soon.

Ted, You're a Doll! Thank You SOOOOO Much for Responding!
I live in Milford, my co worker lives in Bridgeport, and my good friend lives in Stratford.
ALWAYS before WTNH came in, clear as a bell! Other stations (for me, at least) also came in..CBS, NBC, FOX, CW, ..I knew I might not be able to unfortunately receive those, but to lose WTNH, which is VERY close by is bewildering, to say the least. I understood signals within a 20 mi radius should be able to reach us.
I've tried 10 different amplified antennas and 5 different makes of converter boxes. I've moved the TV close to the outside wall. We've done everything the FCC told us to do.
The "switch" was not what it was hyped up to be.."clear picture, better sound", we cannot even get a picture.
Thanks again for your concern.
:-( (WE MISS YOU)

I tried to email you Sally, at the hotmail address listed, but it did not work.

If you are willing, please email me directly at:
ted.koppy@wtnh.com.

If you email me your address and phone number (you do not have to post it here on the blog), an engineer can call you and see if there is anything they can do to help resolve the situation.

I do not know of another way to contact you, so I hope you get this message.

ok Ted, thanks again...I actually don't own a computer so I'm using another (therefore, don't have my own email) but, I'll see if I can use my friend's email. Back in Feb, when the initial switch was to take place, I did talk to one of your engineers. I have talked to tech support at FCC to no avail. I've researched about the digital waves vs. analog, and spoke to the geek squad at Best Buy, Radio Shack, even Kirk at WTNH! Apparently, the interference from trees, buildings, etc is the culprit (never used to be with the analog waves)..that's because the digital waves aren't as strong. Plain and simple. Some people receive them and some (like me and my friends don't)
