You are absolutely right about the taste of fresh fruit and veggies - you can't beat it and you'll never find something that good in the supermarkets.

I have a garden on the side of my house -- I have snap peas, green beans, squash and corn to eat whenever I want - I really enjoy picking my own instead of paying for them at the store. :-)

I'm waiting for the potatoes and pumpkins to grow to "picking time" and I'm pickling a lot of cucumbers so I'll have them in the Winter.

I go to the local farmers market for things I didn't grow this year so I'm helping the farmers market out and enjoying my own crops - couldn't ask for anything better. :-)

I'll check out the Treat Farm in Orange this weekend - I'm sure it'll be good.

If you headed out here, you could sink your teeth into my sons tomatoes.
He said he saw Gil driving the SKYLAB at the Vibes,he recognized him because Gil autographed his handsome photo for me at some funtion in my Town.
Oh what fun it is to have fun.
He grew onions, garlic, eggplant, corn, has grapes, rasberries, basil, and sage too.
And just planted a few fruit trees, dwarfs.
I think he said he saw Sonia the other day too.
Enjoy the season.
Todays Beauty Storm was quite something.

The Treat Farm is an OUTSTANDING location! The veggies, especially the corn is grown there and picked dailey, and you can't beat that! Some people would even travel thousands of miles to get some of that corn! But I have to say, I still have a soft spot in my heart for Jersey tomatoes. But outside the great State of NJ, these tomatoes were the best I have had! Great stand, nice people, stop in for some great veggies and conversation!

Desiree,

You're absolutely right. There are many things to see and do in this state, especially farmers markets. A suggestion for another place to visit is Lyman Orchards in Middlefield. They have pick-your-own fruits there and in the Fall (September, October) they open up their corn maze. Tons of people go through it every year and it's really a good time. I also heard they have some great kettle corn there too. ;)

Enjoy!

nothing like sweet native Connecticut corn. I miss it! But, the apple harvest is wonderful too!

"guns"...as mike said there is nothing like a Connecticut apple!!! washington state has the corrner on the marketing, and volume, but Connecticut apples rock... right now we just need a little less rain for the apples to sweeten up...

try to get to the Big E on connecticut day... wenesday the 17th... 5 pm is the parade...

and at the big e you can not only check out connecticut, but the other 5 new england states, the best goodies, apple pie w/ chedar cheese, lobster rolls, clam fritters, etc...
