You Are The Weakest Romantic....
As you know, I have two passions: the weather, and game shows. The weather passion started when I was 5 years old, living in Florida...a hurricane missed Miami by a few miles, but the storm both scared and intrigued me. A Weatherman was born!
The game show passion started, believe it or not, before that. As a tyke, my earliest television memories were not of Sesame Street and the Electric Company, but rather, "Wheel of Fortune", "High Rollers", and "Truth or Consequences".... Thanks to the "Concentration" game board, I learned to count to 30 long before my friends could!
So it came as no surprise to my family and friends that I got to appear as a contestant on a game show a few years ago. And, it came as no surprise to my family and friends that I used my 15 minutes of fame on "The Weakest Link" to propose to my wife. On. National. Television.
Cut to February, 2008. This email came into my box last week.
Name: jacki

Comments:: i was watching the game show network monday night jan. 30 and they showed a clip for valentines day ...and he will be on the weakest link that night..thought he as well as the veiwers would like to know!!!
So there. If you want to see how I did, and how I proposed marriage to my wife, tune in to the Game Show Network on Valentines Day at 7pm. Remember, despite my performance, she still married me. That's the best prize of all.
By the way, I know a few of you have seen this, or have heard me talk about it on "Good Morning Connecticut". Often I get the question : How can 'I' become a game show contestant? Well, I don't have a good answer for that. These shows have their own super-specific ways of picking players.
However, there is one show, on the internet, that will give you a good taste of playing a game show for real prizes. It's called "Anyone Can Play", and it's a fun little game starring comedian (and former game show host) Larry Anderson. They're always looking for players, and the best part is, you don't have to travel to play. All you need is a phone!
Check 'em out at http://www.shokusradio.com/gameshow.html and tell them the weatherman sent ya!
